Introducing Path Builder, Free And Open Source
Today we're launching a fully free and open-source tool for the digital forensics community: Path Builder.
It allows you to create custom map paths with timestamp information for playback in any mapping tool, including Lumyx.
How people are already using it
We've seen some great use cases in the first few days:
- Contrasting an alibi alongside location evidence
- Re-creating a travel path for a suspect when the only source is surveillance footage of their route
Both of these have the same shape: you know roughly where someone went and when, but no device handed you a track. Path Builder gives you a way to express that as real, timestamped geometry instead of an annotation on a screenshot.
You can use it here. We look forward to seeing how else it gets used — please share yours with us.
